our goal

Classic Co-op is a website dedicated to retro co-op video games. After many years of searching for lists of co-op games for older consoles, and coming up short. We decided to finally try our hardest to put together a co-op database. It is our goal to compile the definitive list of co-op game for retro gaming consoles.

If there is a specific console you have, but you don't know what co-op games are available, that's what we're here for! Basically, this is the website we wish we had as kids.

Co-op definition

Co-op games are games that you play with a friend cooperatively, as apposed to competitively. The games that we will be covering will mostly be retro. With the current shift in modern gaming focusing on online multiplayer, we plan to focus on local co-op games. Meaning, the games must be played with your friends in person on the same console. Or, "Couch Co-op". Also, sports games, and games that require you to take turns will not be included. But we might make exceptions for some games... like unrealistic sports games (Nintendo World Cup) and alternating turn games where you still need to work together (Donkey Kong Country). Also, we will be including system link games for handhelds, as well as some console games that support system linking.

As convenient as online gaming is, there just isn't anything like playing a game with your friends next to you. That is the main reason we will focus on older games. But we will most likely be covering some modern games with local co-op as well in our "Co-op Highlights" section.

Your input

Of course, this is a work in progress. So, if you don't see a game listed, let us know, and we'll do our best to add it the the database. Contact here.

What to expect

On top of the database, we'll be highlighting some of our favorite co-op games weekly, with a focus on retro gaming. However, we will probably cover some modern co-op games as well. So make sure you check back regularly for updates, highlights, videos, and more!
